The Carbon Lady Dinos are tops in Region 12 after traveling to Richfield Thursday to compete in the final meet before state competition. The girls lead the way scoring 463 points nearly 40 points better than second place Canyon View. For the boys, they earned a fourth place finish scoring 282.5.
The Lady Dinos were followed by Canyon View with 424 points in second place. Emery, Richfield and Grand rounded out the top five.
Alyssa Chamberlain earned two first place finishes in the 50 free with a time of 25.67 and in the 100 free, turning in a time of 57.94. Ada Bradford claimed two third place finishes in both the 100 yard back stroke and the 500 free. Evie Halk earned a fourth place finish in the 500 free and the 100 yard backstroke she earned fifth place and Mia Crompton swam to fifth in the 50 free and fourth in the 100. Ellie Hanson finished in third in the 200 free, Lily Thayn swam to a fourth place finish in the 100 fly and Rachael Blackburn earned a fifth place finish in the 200 free.
In the relays, Hadley Bower along with team mates Chamberlain, Crompton and Lisa King earned a first place finish turning in a time of 1:50.39. Bower, Chamberlain, Bradford and Crompton swam their way to second place in the 400 relay. The 200 medley relay team of Bradford, Thayn, Kanyon Christiansen and Ember Lyman earned a third place finish.
For the boys, it was Canyon View who swam away with the Region 12 crown scoring 513 points, Richfield landed in second with 323. Emery, Carbon and Grand made up the rest of the top five.
Gabe Ibanez had a pair of second place individual finishes in the 200 IM and the 500 free. Nathan Engar claimed second in the 200 free and fourth in the 500 free. Mason Engar had two fourth place finishes in the 50 free and 100 free, and Cameron Jones claimed fifth in the 500 free.
Mason and Nathan Engar along with Ibanez and Spencer Tullis swam to a second place in the 200 free relay. Cameron Jones, Nathan and Mason Engar along with Ibanez earned another second place in the 400 free relay. In the 200 medley relay Boyd Bradford, Leland Kespel, Jackson Thayn and Tullis finished in fifth.
The swim team will have some time off now before the State Championships, which are set to begin February 10.
