
Friday night at Carbon High School, the No.1 team in 3A, the Manti Templars in a non-region tilt. The Templars doubled up the Dinos in the first quarter and continued to build their lead taking the 64-53 win.
Carbon sits at 8-9, including a 2-3 record. They sit at No.12 on the 3A RPI with three more games left on the regular season schedule. The Dinos were coming off a win over the Grand Red Devils, and a close loss to the No. 2 Richfield Wildcats.
In the first quarter, Manti came out firing taking an 18-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. Carbon fired up their offense in the second quarter, the Dinos cut the Templar lead to 34-27.
In the third quarter, Carbon came out flat putting up just six points and giving up 17 to Manti. In the fourth, the Dinos put up their biggest offensive output of the game with 20 points but couldn’t come back and suffered the 64-53 loss.
Braxton Stevenson scored 15 with seven rebounds and five assists. Zeke Wilson put up 12 and five boards and Chet Anderson added 11.
The Dinos are down to the last few games of the regular season, and won’t be back on floor now until Friday, February 3, when they will travel to Cedar City to face No. 8 Canyon View. On Wednesday, February 8, they take on No. 4 Emery in Castle Dale. And then they will wrap up the season on Friday the 10th , when they celebrate “Senior Night” and welcome Richfield to town.
