
The Spartans made the trip to Price to take part in the Eastern Utah Championships. Over 10 schools from around the area took part, and at the end of the day, both the boy’s and girl’s teams finished in fifth place.
On the girl’s side, it was Uintah who claimed the top spot, host team Carbon landed in second place. Grand, Union, and Emery rounded out the top five.
Molly Christiansen claimed a top finish for the Lady Spartans, taking a second-place finish in the 400 meters. Carlie Hurst claimed a fourth-place finish in the 300 hurdles. Addy Guymon came in fifth place in the 800. Addie Hurst finished the 1600 in sixth place. In the 100 hurdles, Carlie Hurst finished in eighth, and in the 200 KaBree Gordon finished tenth.
In relays, the 4 x 400 team for the Lady Spartans came in fourth.
Megan Stilson jumped her way to a second-place finish in the high jump, Alexis McArthur earned fifth place in the shot put, and Gordon went sixth in the long jump.
For the boy’s Union came out on top, and Uintah was second. Host team Carbon, San Juan, and Emery made up the rest of the top five.
Matt Olsen earned a first-place finish in the high jump for the Spartans, and Boston Huntington came in ninth. Olsen would also go on to claim a fourth-place finish in the 110 Hurdles and a fifth in the 300 hurdles.
In the 3200, Camdon Larsen would grab second place, Diilon Larsen came in sixth, and Champ Justice tenth. In the 400, Jack Christiansen landed in fourth. Two other top finishes in distance events came in the 1600, where Dillan Larsen finished in seventh and Mason Hurdsman finished the 800 in seventh,
The sprint relay team of Owen Cordner, Dalton Allred, Camdon Larsen, and Christiansen earned a third-place finish.
The Spartans will welcome schools from the area to Castle Dale on Tuesday for the Darrell Gardner Invitational.
