The Price City Youth Council is currently looking for new members to be a part of the council for the 2023-2024 school year. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Youth Council Member, Landrie Anderson to discuss all the details.

“So the function of the Youth Council is to be youth leaders in our community and we focus on planning and participating in service projects and service events happening,” said Anderson. The Youth Council has its own mayor, city council members and so on and they elect new leadership each year. The experience of being on the Youth Council is to encourage the youth to give back to the community and the members get a better understanding of their local government.

The various events that Youth Council hosts is the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Fall Festival, several service projects around the city and a Cancer Walk. Anderson explains her favorite event, “I would definitely say by Go Goal Project because you really get to see the kind of impact you have on the community and the type of people you get to meet, its really blows you away.” The community really stepped up and supported the community Cancer Walk that was held in September which recognized Childhood Cancer.

If you are a teen in grades ninth through twelfth you can apply to be on the Price City Youth Council now. “So you need to be an active member in our community and want to be able to be a person to reach out and to be involved. So you’ll fill out an application, and on there you will state your GPA and extracurricular activities that you’re involved in. That just kind of helps with the deciding process and then at the end of the form you can pick a time that you prefer to schedule an interview and that’s where most of the decision is made,” said Anderson. The interview committee is made up of current Youth Council Members and Mayor Michael Kourianos.
