Carbon High School has announced the hiring of Ted Bianco as Director of Athletics. Bianco, who served the high school in this role previously, returns after serving as Director of Athletics for Juan Diego High School over the past two years.

“I am looking forward to the return. Carbon is my school. I graduated from here and there are a lot of great people I will be reuniting with,” said Bianco Friday on KOAL’s Drive Time Sports.

A mainstay at Carbon High School for well over 20 years, Bianco held a lengthy stint as both the boys’ and girls’ basketball coach, as well as Director of Athletics. Bianco also served as a teacher at Carbon before his retirement from the classroom and sidelines in 2021.

With his return to Carbon, Bianco will serve as a full-time Athletic Director.

“Being a full-time AD makes a world of a difference,” said Bianco. “There is always something going on during the day and it is a very demanding job. I think that is going to help a lot in my return to Carbon, not having to teach or coach. If I am being honest, I was burned out the last time around. There were days where it was just too much. So, I’m just really excited about this opportunity.”

Bianco brings a wealth of knowledge to the position. On top of his high school coaching tenure, he also served as an assistant basketball coach at the College of Eastern Utah. With 32 years of coaching experience, Bianco was named the Utah High School Athletic Association Coach of the Year in 2021.

Bianco will begin the traditional Athletic Director duties this week as preparation for the fall sports season is underway.
