School is right around the corner and scheduled to start on August 16. All parents whose children enjoy the breakfast and lunch programs at the district are encouraged to fill out the free and reduced lunch application this year. Director, Tonya Jones stopped by Castle Country Radio to let listeners know about the importance of the application.

Parents can fill out the application quite easily and from the comfort of their own homes as the application is available online. “They are all available online on, we use to call it Family Titan, but Family Titan has switched to linqconnect.com and we will have papers that we’ll have them out, we’ll be sending them out to all the families as well. It’s the exact same thing as Family Titan, all you got to do is if you already logged in from last year, just use the same log in and it will take you to the right spot, and right from there you can actually access the online menu, as well as your application for free and reduced,” said Jones. The district is currently accepting the Free and Reduced Lunch Applications at this time.

Although you may think that you aren’t eligible its still helps the district if all families complete an application. “It actually helps us get Title 1 aides. It helps us get various programs because we have a higher percentage of free and reduced. We get community grants; we get different organizations we can get in because of those free and reduced applications. So its really important that everybody fills them out. So we encouraged everybody fill them out, even if you don’t think you’re going to make it, just fill it out, its just going to help our program,” stated Jones. There is no deadline to apply but the district encourages families to apply as soon as possible. Only one application needs to be submitted per family.

The district wanted to be sure to let families know that there has been a slight increase in the daily meal prices this year. “We had to go up $.10 so our prices for our elementary lunch is $2.10, for the middle school it will be $2.35 and for the high school it will be $2.60,” said Jones. The breakfast cost is $1.50 for elementary, $175 for middle school and $2.00 for high school.

If any parents have any questions about the food program they can call (435) 613-3133 or email Tonya Jones at tjjones@carbonschools.org
