There was no change in the Region 12 standings as the eight teams shared a course for the fourth time this season Tuesday afternoon at the Sunset View Golf Course in Delta.
The Richfield Wildcats increased their team lead at the top of the leaderboard as they finished the afternoon with a team score of 314. Juab finished two strokes behind with a 316, followed by Carbon’s 324. Delta, Emery, Canyon View, Manti, and North Sanpete rounded out the field of eight respectively.
Carbon’s Dayton King claimed the No. 1 spot on the individual leaderboard as he fired a 74, one stroke better than Richfield’s Pace Mullen. The win for King marks the second consecutive week a Carbon golfer finished with the individual win, following Rydge Butler’s performance last week.
Butler again delivered a solid performance as he finished with an 80. Kyler Clark was right behind with an 81, followed by Jack Hedin’s 89. Despite the third-place finish, the Dinos managed to shave four strokes off last week’s team total.
The Emery Spartans slipped further out of the fourth spot in the region standings as the team shot a 350. Dempsey Toomer earned the team’s low score for the afternoon with an 85. Turner Stoker shot an 88 and Champ Justice ended with an 89. The fourth score went to Joey Leonard, who rounded his day out with a 91.
The season has now reached its midpoint as far as team meets are concerned. Richfield and Juab are separated by just 19-strokes for first place. Carbon has gathered a comfortable advantage for third place, while both Delta and Emery are competing for fourth.
Each of the eight schools will now prepare for the next meet, taking place Thursday, Sept. 7 at Juab’s home course. Below are the complete region standings following Tuesday’s meet in Delta.
