The Lady Dinos soccer squad has put together an impressive 7-3 record this season, and perhaps no victory was more difficult than Tuesday’s 3-2 double overtime win at North Sanpete.
Carbon is positioning themselves for the run into the post season. Holding on to the No. 4 spot in the RPI, they will be able to improve that number before the end of the season on October 3.
The battle with North Sanpete started in the first half as defense was front and center with neither team scoring. In the second half both teams discovered their offenses as Carbon and North Sanpete, found the back of the net two times each, bringing the score to 2-2 at the end of regulation.
Defense reigned supreme again in the first overtime as the score would prove with no one being able to put one through the back of the net. The Lady Dinos found the weakness in the North Sanpete defense scoring in double overtime and taking the 3-2 victory.
Amiah Timothy scored a pair of goals in the win, with Blythe Bradford putting another through the pipes for Carbon. Chrissy Jones, Allie Smith and Kenzie Morgan all had an assist in the win as well. In goal for the Lady Dinos, Fortune Ward collected eight saves.
The Dinos now will take the trip to Cedar City to face the Canyon View Falcons, the No. 2 ranked team in all of 3A.
They will be back home Tuesday, September 19 to face Juab.
