The Emery Lady Spartan soccer squad continues looking for the first win of the season. Tuesday in Castle Dale, the Juab Wasps came in and battled with the Spartans taking a 2-1 victory, and dropping the Spartans to 0-14 on the season.
Emery is headed toward the final two games, one home and one away, so there is still a chance to make a run towards the post season.
Both teams were very quiet in the first half with no one lighting up the scoreboard, creating the 0-0 stalemate at the break. In the second half both teams would break the seal on the goals with Juab finding the back of the net twice. Emery would battle back, putting one between the pipes as Natalie Pace would score off of a Madi Bunnell assist for the lone Spartan goal.
Emery will have to wait now until October 4, like the rest of 3A to see where they will be when the final RPI will be released as well as the bracket for the State Soccer Championships.
Emery heads back to the pitch on Thursday when they will travel to face Richfield. They will then return home for the finale on Tuesday when the Dinos come to town and the Spartans celebrate “Senior Night”.
The final home game with Carbon is set to begin at 4:00 p.m..
