The USU Extension Office – Carbon County is gearing up for some fun, family friendly activities beginning October 4 with an event called Facing Fire and then with an Eclipse Event on October 14. Coordinator, DeLayna Barr stopped by Castle Country Radio to share all the wonderful details.

The local Carbon County 4-H organization is teaming up with Utah State University to bring in their Mobile Art Truck. “Yea, this is October 4, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and we’re going to be in the parking lot of the USU-Eastern Museum. In this art truck we are going to be doing fire. There’s going to be so many hands-on activities for families to come try out and learn, and we’re really excited about this opportunity that USU is bringing to our county,” said Barr. This event will share the art and science behind fire with guests. This is all about learning something new and exciting which is what the
4-H organization is all about. This is a free event for all community members.

The 4-H Teen Council is thrilled to be hosting an Eclipse Event on Saturday, October 14 at the USU Extension parking lot at 751 East 100 North in Price. “Teen Council has got this going on. We have glasses that are from NASA. They’ve got “moon cakes” – you know pancakes that we’re going to have for breakfast, and three or four more activities that these teens are excited about sharing with our county.  That is Saturday, October 14 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and its going to be in the USU Extension office parking lot. It’s a Saturday, so there will be plenty of parking,” said Barr. This is free event for all eclipse enthusiasts.

The local 4-H organization offers students many clubs to join such as sewing, painting, livestock, and so much more. If your student is interested in being a part of the 4-H program they can visit their Facebook page. “So if you look at Carbon 4-H County, find us where we post everything. They’re welcome to give me a call at (435) 636-3262 and I’ll be glad to help them with anything. But we’ve got clubs from paint clubs to livestock to learning how to fold clothes, so we’ve got it all,” said Barr. The membership fee is only $10.00 and it covers the entire year. There may be times that a club may have some fees associated with it but it’s always reasonable.
