The Carbon County Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for their monthly luncheon which will be held on October 19 at noon at the USU Eastern Jennifer Leavitt Student Center. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Executive Director, Barbie Haeck to get all the details.
This will be a “Meet the Candidates” style luncheon with candidates from Price and East Carbon. “We have contested races in Price City and East Carbon, we have invited all those candidates to come and introduce themselves to our attendees,” stated Haeck. Each candidate will be given a few minutes to speak to guests about their political plans.
Although most of the time during the luncheon will be devoted to the candidates the chamber has opted for a community spotlight this month on a local organization, as Haeck explains, “Miss Carbon County Scholarship Organization, so you’re right, this month there won’t be any Business Spotlight because we wanted to give the candidates as much time as possible, because there are quite a few but we will have the Community Spotlight for the Miss Carbon County Scholarship Organization.” The cost to attend the luncheon is $18.00 for chamber members and $25.00 for non-members. If interested in attending the luncheon you are urged to contact the chamber at (435) 637-2788 or by email cccc@carboncountychamber.net
The chamber recently held their annual Golf Tournament this past weekend and Haeck was happy to report it was a huge success. “The weather was so beautiful both days Friday and Saturday. Our tournament we do scheduled tee times on Friday, and then we have a shot-gun start on Saturday, and it was absolutely perfect. The winner of the tournament was a Zions Bank Team, and they were all from Intermountain Electronics Bobby Houston, Derrick Martinez, John Ruggeri and Joey Penovich were the winners of the tournament,” stated Haeck. The opportunity drawing that was held brought in a substantial amount of money to help with the annual First Responders Banquet which will be held in December.
