
On Friday and Saturday the Emery Spartans played two games taking the win in both. On Friday night they traveled to Panguitch and were able to come away with the win, 61-53, then on Saturday, Emery was back on the Spartan Center welcoming Millard, with the Spartans taking a 76-25 win.
The Spartans are now sitting at 3-1 coming off back-to-back wins. They suffered their only loss last Wednesday against South Summit.
On Friday night in Panguitch, the Spartans struggled in the first half as Panguitch outscored them in the first 20-14, but in the second quarter, Emery came back behind their defense, hanging 19 on the Bobcats in the second while holding them to 7, taking a 33-27 lead at halftime.
In the second half, things would tighten up a bit with the Spartans putting up 28 with 14 in each quarter and giving up 26 to the Bobcats holding them off and taking the 61-53 win.
Creek Sharp and Luke Justice each scored 16 points and added four rebounds with Justice adding three assists. Zack Tuttle scored 10 with two rebounds and five steals. Wade Stilson filled the stat sheet with eight points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.
A quick bus ride home and sleep, and the Spartans were back on the court at the Spartan Center on Saturday night to face the Millard Eagles.
Emery owned this game from start to finish outscoring the Eagles in the first half 43-11. And in the second half it was more of the same as the Spartans went 33-14, and Emery cruised to a 76-25 win.
Tuttle and Justice each scored 14, and Jace Frandsen scored 12 with four three pointers.
