On January 18, 2024 our sweet sister, aunt, niece and friend Sherri May Salazar passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

Sherri was born August 13, 1971 in Murray, Utah to Charlie and Sherri Sadleir Salazar. She was the second of four children. She grew up and attended school in Price, Utah. She graduated from Carbon High School. She attended the College of Eastern Utah for a year before deciding that she was not interested in further schooling.

Sherri moved to the Salt Lake valley where she lived for the next 22 years. She worked at Ream’s grocery store before moving on to BankOne/Chase Bank. During this time, she enjoyed a part time job as an usher at the “E” Center for hockey games and concerts.

Growing up, Sherri was proud to be a tomboy, working on cars with Dad, riding her motorcycle, hunting, fishing, and yearly camping trips with the extended family. She loved the outdoors.

She drove a race car for many years. While she enjoyed racing PowderPuff she got a thrill racing with her brothers John and Shawn (and the big boys) where she was quite competitive.

Anyone who knew Sherri knew of her love of Goofy. She was a devoted fan of the Raiders, Dallas Stars and Utah Grizzlies.

She was a proud aunt. She excitedly supported all of her nieces and nephews at their various games, recitals and activities. They were the loves of her life.

Due to the rare disease fibromuscular dysplasia that caused a severe stroke, she moved in with her parents, who were able to accompany her to her many appointments and therapies. With sheer determination and the assistance of her parents and family, she was able to adapt to her new circumstances.

Sherri is survived by her siblings, Marisha Salazar, Murray, John M (Sherry) Salazar, Price, and Malysa (Shawn) Behunin, Helper; nieces and nephews, Patrick, Blaze, Shy (Stephen), Lexy (Eduardo), Ashlyn, Nathan, Braxton and Wynter; great-nephew, Sebastian; and soon-to-be great-niece, LaineLynn; many aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom loved her.

Sherri is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Sherri; and both sets of grandparents.

Sherri wanted others to possibly learn more about her disease FMD. Per her request her body was donated to the University of Utah’s Body Donor Program. She was also able to donate both of her corneas to two people. Her family is honored to have been able to fulfill this wish of hers.

Honoring Sherri’s wishes no services will be held. The family will hold a private memorial at a later date.

The family is grateful for the care bestowed upon Sherri by the staff at Castleview Hospital, LifeFlight and the U of U Body Donor Program. Special thanks to the staff at Utah Valley Hospital for their compassion, respect, and care during Sherri’s last days.
