LeNoy “Nick” Crossley Carter, age 78, passed away peacefully in Vernal, Utah on February 6, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Nick was born April 3, 1945 in Provo, Utah to Edward and Maurita Crossley Carter.  He married Peggy Lee Jacobson on March 19, 1965 in Orem, Utah. She preceded him in death on August 6, 1995.

Nick was a longtime resident of Spring Glen, he eventually retired from H-E Lowdermilk in 1994, before moving to Vernal in 1997. After moving to Vernal, he helped manage and maintain the local KOA Campground for over 20 years.

He truly enjoyed the outdoors, whether it be hunting, camping, or fishing. Above all, he loved supporting and cheering on his grandchildren throughout their numerous activities. He was a true family man, and loved going on family vacations and spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.

Nick is survived by his daughter, Nichole (Jeff) Olsen of Vernal; grandchildren, Cheyenne (Josh) Burr, Colton Carter, Tristan Olsen, and Abigail Olsen; three great-grandchildren, Kinzlee Burr, Asher Burr, and Jax Carter; brother, Earl (Jennifer) Carter of Orem; sister, Nancy Jackson of Provo; in-laws, Joyce Carter of West Jordan, David (Celia) Jacobson and Gary (Janice) Jacobson of Springville, Sally Jacobson of Salt Lake City, and Bud Nielson of Pleasant Grove.

Nick is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Peggy Carter; son, Lance Carter; brothers, Mike and Robert Carter; in-laws, Jay Jacobson, Larae Nielson, and John Jacobson; special nephew, Shane Jacobson, and a niece, Lisa Bagshaw.

Funeral service, Monday, February 12, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main St.) in Price where the family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and Monday morning one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Cemetery in Helper, Utah.
