Helper Middle School is being highlighted on this week’s Carbon School District weekly update the school sent eighth-grade student, Amelia Thayn to talk about the drama department’s upcoming production of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.

The student actor talks about what she likes best about her role as Willie Wonka, “There a lot of really just kind of funny lines, and just how he like acts around these kids. He gets to be really sarcastic and its really funny.” When she’s not busy working on perfecting her role as Willie Wonka she doesn’t have a favorite subject but does enjoy her art class.

Thayn has participated in drama since entering middle school and plans on continuing at the high school level. This year she knew that she was ready for a bigger role, “Just the point that I’ve been in drama class all three years, and I’ve been doing plays for more than that time. So I knew I was ready for a bigger role, it’s basically one of the leads.”

The play will be presented on the stage inside the Rio Theatre which is located on Main Street in Helper on Mar. 20, Mar. 22 and Mar. 23 at 6:00 pm, in addition to a matinee performance being offered on the 23rd at noon.
