Active Re-Entry offers several programs and services for individuals with disabilities to help them to achieve or maintain self-sufficient and productive lives. Executive Director, Terri Yelonek stopped by Castle Country Radio to discuss all the details with listeners.
“Let me just start by saying Active Re-entry is a non-profit organization which provides services and support to individuals with disabilities and that’s individuals of all ages, with all types of disabilities. The whole premise is to give people the tools that they might need or the equipment they might need to become or remain as independent as possible living in their own homes or communities of their choosing,” said Yelonek. The organization provides all types of support and services to individuals in the area. It’s Core Services include Independent Living Skills Training, Information & referral, Individual & Systems Advocacy, Peer Counseling & Support, Nursing Home Diversion & transition and Youth Postsecondary Life Transition.
They offer various support groups such as Grief Support, Caregivers, Active Access Support, Low Vision and the newest group is the Traumatic Brain Injury Support Group. Yelonek talks about the Caregivers Group, “Providing care for loved ones who have disability or an illness is a taxing job, a rewarding one but it can be very taxing. So monthly we meet with individuals who are in that situation, caring for others. We provide support, the group provides information, tips & tricks on how they’re dealing with their circumstances, so others can learn from them.” For more information on the support groups please visit the Active Re-entry website at https://www.arecil.org/
They just started a new service to help their low vision clients with grocery shopping. “It was determined that they had a need to have someone take them and assist them with their shopping. Riding the senior bus to shop wasn’t adequate for them because they not only needed to be dropped off and picked up, but they need somebody to go in to the store and assist them. So we started that bi-weekly for individuals with low vision or they’ve lost their vision to go and help them get their groceries or prescriptions, whatever it may be,” said Yelonek. This is another group of within the community that Active Re-entry is willing to help.
The center is located at 10 South Fairgrounds Road in Price or call them at (435) 637-4950. Feel free to stop by or visit their website at https://www.arecil.org/ for further information about all the wonderful services offered by Active Re-entry.
