For several weeks Price City was accepting nominations for this year’s St Patrick’s Day Parade Grand Marshall and the time has now come to announce this year’s choice. Parade Coordinator, Megan Marshall stopped by Castle Country Radio to do just that.

“Drum roll…Mark Jesperson is our 2024 Price City St Patrick’s Day Grand Marshall. All of the volunteer work that he has done, this is definitely some well-deserved recognition,” stated Marhsall. Jesperson is a local businessman who owns and operates Altitude Cycle in Price. He also coaches and supports the local Carbon High Mountain Bike Team. He will lead the 2024 St Patrick’s Day Parade down Main Street on Saturday, Mar. 16 at noon.

There have been several businesses, local groups and individuals who have entered a float of some sort this year. “Consistently over the last few years we have increased our number of floats year over year and so I’m confident we’re doing the same thing again this year. People get more and more competitive with their floats, making sure that they’re in theme. They want one of those big, shiny trophies so it’s definitely a spectacle to come out and see all of the wonderful, unique, floats that we are getting now,” explained Marshall. The theme is all things St Patrick’s…lots of green, rainbows, pot of gold.

If you are participating in the parade, it’s very important that you do not throw candy or objects from a moving vehicle. “For everyone safety’s sake and for some horrible tragedies that have happened around the country our biggest safety concern is making sure that no candy or objects are thrown from a moving vehicle. You just have to have walkers walking alongside the floats, throwing the candy out to everybody. That just keeps the candy out of the street, which means it keeps kids out of the street,” said Marshall.  Law enforcement will be present to make sure everyone stays safe.

The parade is a great way to freely advertise your business and/or organization to the community. Anyone wishing to register an entry in the parade may do so on Price City website at https://www.pricecityutah.com/
