
The Lady Dinos used their final at-bat to take a region win over North Sanpete at home on Tuesday. The Hawks led the game 5-2 heading into the final inning, and the Dinos came back scoring four in the bottom of the seventh to take the 6-5 win.
The win moved Carbon to 2-2 this season, they also hold a 2-1 region mark.
North Sanpete got on the board first, putting up a pair of runs in the third. The Lady Dinos would answer back with a run of their own and another in the fourth to tie the Hawks at two runs each.
North Sanpete would go on to add three more runs and held the Dinos scoreless in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings. Carbon came out and held the Hawks scoreless in the top of the seventh, and then it was time for them to get to work.
After a pair of singles from Adri Abeyta and Kylan Sorenson and a walk of Brailee Peterson, Brielle Sandoval sent a single to right driving Abeyta in, to move the score to 5-3. Taylor Secor came up to the plate and sent a grounder to center driving in Peterson and Sorenson to tie the score at 5-5. Following an intentional walk of Samantha Riddle, Danica Adams stepped up to the plate bringing Sandoval home for the score and the win.
Adams ended the day with three hits and a pair of RBIs. Sandoval collected two hits, two RBIs, and scored one run, and Secor had one hit and two RBIs.
On the mound, it was Adams who got the start going 5.1 innings giving up seven hits, five runs, four earned, and struck out 10. Sorenson came in to go 1.2 innings surrendering two hits and striking out two.
The Lady Dinos get back to the diamond on Thursday when they face the Canyon View Falcons.
