Coming off a 3-1 showing in Moab at the Grand County Invitational, the Spartans welcomed the defending 3A State Champions the Juab Wasps to Castle Dale for a region tilt. Emery was unable to get their offense going as they fell to the Wasps 10-1.

The Spartans sit at 6-5 overall and 0-1 in region play.

The Wasps got on the board first putting up two runs in the opening inning. Juab wouldn’t let the Spartans get their offense going as they used three pitchers that gave up just four hits allowed one earned run and combined to strike out 15.

Juab kept the pace throughout the contest and gave up just one run to the Spartans in the fourth inning when Turner Stoker sent a ground ball to the shortstop driving in Wade Stilson scoring the Spartans only run, as they would fall 10-1 in the contest.

Stilson collected a pair of hits in the game. Kade Larsen and Peyton Alton each had one hit in the loss.

Trevin Gilbert got the start on the mound and took the loss, going 4.1 innings, giving up eight hits, six runs, five earned while striking out three. Hayden Abrams went 2.2 surrendering three hits and giving up four runs, three earned, and struck out two.

Emery will get back to the diamond on Thursday when they travel to take on South Sevier.
