This week’s Carbon School District weekly update shines a light on Kindergarten Registration. Elementary Director, Stacey Basinger and School Nurse, Heidi Yoklavich stopped by Castle Country Radio to share some information about the upcoming registration.
The registration will take place at each school beginning the week of Apr. 22. “Each school has a block of time from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Where secretaries and assistants are there to help with the registration. We have Heidi and her team of help that is coming to the school and they will assist with immunization questions, and she can talk about that. We want to make sure that students have the information they need to know when school starts, and how that works, gets them in the door, gets them a little bit excited but school doesn’t start till August,” said Basinger. Incoming kindergarten students must register at their boundary school. An online boundary waiver request form may be submitted but it will not be approved or declined till August.
To attend school, a child must have a birth certificate and proof of receiving immunizations. “We won’t actually be doing immunizations but I will be there and the other school nurse, Belle Wilstead will also be there with me. What we do is, it’s very important the parent actually brings the record that they have, so that we’re able to go ahead and look at it, see what they need. Most kids going into kindergarten, if they have been current on immunizations up to that point are going to need a DTaP, a Polio, an MMR, and a Varicella. That’s kind of the four kindergarten shots,” explained Yoklavich. Your student MUST be 5 years old ON or BEFORE September 1 to register for the 2024-2025 school year.
The kindergarten registration will be held on the following days from 9:00 – 11:00 am:
Bruin Point Elementary April 22
Castle Heights Elementary April 23
Creekview Elementary April 24
Sally Mauro Elementary April 25
Wellington Elementary April 26
