The Carbon track and field team made the trip to Nephi to take part in the Juab Invitational. A total of four schools took part in the meet and the Carbon girls claimed second with the boys finishing in fourth.

Host Juab grabbed the top spot on the boys’ side with a total score of 198.5, Canyon View took second with 158. Emery took third with 117 and Carbon scored 90.5.

The Carbon boys’ relay teams claimed a pair of top-five finishes. Mario Monari, Tanner Harker, Benjamin Simms, and Ethan Prettyman finished in second place in the 4×100. Max Carlson, Easton Humes, Brad Sweeney, and Dallin Humes finished the 4×400 in fourth.

In individual events, Evan Criddle collected three top-five finishes in distances. In the 3200 he earned a second-place finish, and Michael Weber finished fourth. Criddle also earned two fourth-place finishes in the 800 and 1600. In hurdles, Riley Palmer earned fourth place in the 110, and Sweeney claimed fifth. Sweeney also earned a fifth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles as well.

In field events, Traxton Jewkes earned a second-place finish in the high jump and fourth in the long jump.

Canyon View took top honors on the girls’ side with 196 points, Carbon was in second with 180. Emery and Juab finished third and fourth.

Rozlyn Stowe earned the only first-place finish of the day for the Lady Dinos in the 1600 with a time of 5:18.46, and Sophia Taylor finished in third. Ellie Hanson earned a second-place finish in the 3200, Kaylee Pitcher was fourth and Ada Bradford finished in fifth. Taylor also grabbed fifth in the 800.

Mia Crompton earned a couple of third-place finishes in the 100 and the 200, Blythe Bradford was right behind in fourth in the 100, and Brooklyn Lowe finished fourth in the 200. Gianna White claimed third in the 400.  In hurdles, McKinlie Sharp earned a third-place finish in the 100-meter,  while in the 300 Rebecca Swasey finished in third with Josie Jespersen finishing in fourth.

In relays, the Carbon team of Jordan Shorts, Blythe Bradford, Lowe, and Crompton took second in the 4×100, and the team of Swasey, Taylor, White, and Blythe Bradford took second as well in the 4×400. Ivy Beecher, Stella Smith, McKenzie Fredrickson, and Ada Bradford earned a second-place finish in the sprint relay.

The Lady Dinos were well represented in the field events as well with Bailey Johnson earning third in the shot put as well as fourth in the discus, Ella Morley took fifth in the shot put. Janyssa Wadley earned third in the javelin and Swasey took fifth. Shorts finished fourth in the long jump with Blythe Bradford in fifth, and Emily Dufour had a fourth-place finish in the high jump.

The Dinos will now prepare for the Eastern Utah Championships on Friday at Carbon High.
