
Emery High along with 13 other schools from around the region descended upon Price for the Eastern Utah Track and Field Championships. When all was said and done the Spartans claimed fourth place.
Union earned first place on the boy’s side with 181 points, and Uintah was second with 110. San Juan, Emery, and Carbon rounded out the top five.
Creek Sharp got things started in the 100 taking first in a time of 10.99, Sharp also earned second place in the 200. Mathew Olsen claimed first place in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.07. Olsen would also go on to finish fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.
In distances, Camdon Larsen finished second in the 3200 and Dillon Larsen finished third in the 1600. In field events, Olsen earned a fifth-place finish in the high jump.
The sprint relay team of Champ Justice, Mason Hurdsman, Levi Dimond, and Dillon Larsen, finished the day in fourth.
Uintah took the top spot on the girl’s side scoring 148.50 points, Carbon landed in second with 130.5. Union, Emery, and Duchesne comprised the remaining of the top five.
Three Lady Spartans earned second-place finishes Addy Guymon in the 1600, Carlie Hurst in the 800, and Guymon would go on to finish third in the 800. Gentry Christiansen finished second in the 3200, and Addie Hurst finished third.
In field events, Abby Morris collected the only top finish for Emery in the high jump, and Megan Stilson finished in third. Morris also earned fourth place in the long jump, and Dazi Thatcher took fourth in the shot put.
The Spartans will host the Darrel Gardner Invitational on Wednesday.
