The Carbon Lady Dinos put together a fifth-place performance in the second region golf meet of the week, Thursday afternoon at the Skyline Golf Course in Mount Pleasant.

Carley West continued her consistent play as she finished with a team best 91. Grace Simms helped push Carbon as she posted a 110, followed by Kaylynn Black’s 110. Leah Sweeney gave the Dinos their fourth score as she ended at 133.

Richfield once again claimed the match victory as they fired a team score of 317, beating second-place Juab by 71-strokes. Manti ended in a distant third at 426, followed by Emery’s 430. Carbon, North Sanpete, and Delta rounded out the competing field.

Thursday’s meeting comes following a make-up competition on Monday. Originally scheduled to travel to Palisades on March 25, weather forced a reschedule. Seven of the eight competing teams squared off Monday afternoon.

Richfield kept its unbeaten streak alive with a 62-stroke win over second place Juab. Carbon finished in third after shooting a team score of 445, topping fourth place Emery by 12 strokes. Manti, North Sanpete, and Canyon View rounded out the field.

West was once again the lead player for Carbon as she fired a 92. Kaylynn Black shot a 105 and Grace Simms followed with a 105. The fourth score was Leah Sweeny’s 141.

Carbon has now navigated through the schedule and has just one meet remaining ahead of the 3A state championships. On Monday, the teams will travel to Meadow Brook, in Taylorsville, to wrap up the regular season.

The 3A state championship will follow on May 8 and 9 as all qualifying teams will once again play at Meadow Brook.
