A day after defeating the Richfield Wildcats in five innings, the Carbon Dinos put an exclamation point on the 2024 regular season with a 12-5 win over the North Sanpete Hawks Tuesday afternoon in Mount Pleasant.

Trailing 5-0 entering the third inning, the Dinos scored the next 12 runs to move to 10-4 in region play. The victory gives Carbon sole possession of third place in the highly competitive division and an overall record of 16-7.

Sophomore Paxton Falk tossed three scoreless innings, fanning four batters and allowing just three hits. Maddex Willson and Trevor William saw time on the mound, seeing a combined four innings of work.

Trailing 5-4 in the sixth inning, the Carbon bats came alive as the team put together a two-out rally by scoring five runs. Peyton Molinar scored Michael Vigil on a ground ball that led to a throwing error at first, loading the bases. Maizen Prichard launched a bases clearing double on the ensuing at bat, putting the Dinos in the lead for good.

Jace Barlow’s day at the plate played a key factor in the Carbon win. Barlow finished 4-5 with two doubles and two RBIs. Rydge Butler also produced in the batter’s box as he finished 3-4 with two RBIs and a walk.

Carbon ends the regular season sitting just one game behind the Canyon View Falcons for second place in the division. Juab claimed the region championship with a league mark of 12-2.

The UHSAA will release the final RPI on Wednesday morning, setting the stage for the upcoming 3A State Championship Tournament. The first round is set to begin Thursday and continue through Friday. The final eight teams will advance to the final stage next week.
