There’s always something going on in Carbon County, but sometimes people don’t know what exactly is happening. Castle Country Radio has compiled the events in Carbon County into one comprehensive list.
On May 15, Castle Country Gardening will be held at Utah State University Eastern in the Reeves Building, room 187, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This month’s topic is vegetable transplanting at care. The cost is $5 per class or $20 for the entire series. For more information, contact Steven Price at steven.price@usu.edu.
On May 16, the USU Prehistoric Museum will hold a free museum day from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. This event runs every Thursday during the same time frame. Also on May 16 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. is a 4-H fly tying and fishing class. Registration costs $15 and can be done online here.
Next, on May 17 and 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Desert Thunder Raceway will host a swap meet at its facility at 2800 Airport Road in Price, Utah. Following the swap meet on May 17, Desert Thunder Raceway will also host its Spring Fling Dash. Gates will open for the race at 5 p.m., and racing will start at 7 p.m. More information on this event can be found here.
The next week on May 20, the Carbon High School Drama Department and Linda’s School of Dance host a dance showcase at 7 p.m. in the CHS Auditorium. The cost for the showcase is $4 with all proceeds going to the CHS Drama Department.
On May 25, Helper Saturday Vibes continues at Gazebo Park from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., featuring live music, art, food, kids activities and a full bar. Also, at this event, you can enter to win a hot tub courtesy of Take a Break Spas and Billiards, a grill from IFA Country Store, a Camp Chef fire pit and two rockers from Bookcliff Sales and a generator along with a car detail kit and cooler bag from Sutherlands.
Finally, rounding out the month is the Carbon County Fair being held May 30, 31 and June 1. Highlights from the fair include a battle of the bands from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Thelma’s Park on May 31 and Due West in Concert in the Grandstands arena June 1, starting at 7 p.m. A full schedule of events can be viewed here.
