This week’s rendition of Price Culture Connection falls on the Fourth of July, and because of this Price City has teamed up with Carbon County to put on a special event for residents of the Castle Valley Area. Instead of the typical one-band performance, the event is doubling the fun with performances from both Mountain Country and Route 89. Also due to the size, a new venue was needed, with this week’s concerts being held at the Carbon County Fairgrounds.

Castle Country Radio sat down with Price City Councilmember Lane Miller and Route 89 leader Steve Goulding to talk about the concert.

Opening up our chat, Miller talked about the planning that went into this Culture Connection stating,”  When we realized that our Culture Connection this week was going to be on the 4th of July, we went to Aubrey out at Carbon County Rec and said, “Hey, how about if we add concerts to the 4th of July fireworks that the county always does.” She was thrilled to do it. So then they split the cost and we have two bands coming.“

Next, we talked to Goulding about his experience of touring, where he shared some of his favorite experiences,”  I would start with out there in Carbon County at the fairgrounds playing right beneath the fireworks and just rocking with the group out there, great, great people.”

After this, we switched gears to Route 89’s stylistic approach and what kind of music people should be expecting. “So we’ll play anything from the Beatles up to Post Malone and kind of everything in between as far as rock and pop is considered.” Goulding explained,” There’s just a good variety of rock and pop that we like to bring to the crowd.”

Rounding out our conversation, we asked both Miller and Goulding if they had any parting messages. Goulding started things off by stating,” I would just say that we are excited to be back out in Carbon County at the fairgrounds. We look forward to just partying with everybody, and celebrating Independence Day. We’re all excited to be out there again. So thanks for having us back. “

Miller shared his parting message, leaving us with,” Sure, as I think about the Route 89 concerts that I’ve been to, whether it’s at the fairgrounds, on Main Street in Helper,  they always have such a great rapport with the audience. They interact and the audience really, really enjoys it, and you can tell that the band does too.”

Price Culture Connection will be held on Thursday, July 4, starting at 7 p.m. at the Carbon County Fairgrounds. For more information on the event, you can visit Price City’s Facebook page here.
