
The Lady Dino soccer squad welcomed the No. 2 team in 3A, the Manti Templars. The game had some serious Deja Vu as the contest would go into double overtime falling in the match 2-1.
Carbon slides to 10-5 overall and 8-5 in Region 12 play and holds the No. 4 spot in the RPI, which will soon be removed from view until the final rankings are released on October 9th, with their final position which will then be used to set the field for the 3A State Championships that will begin on October 12.
The Lady Dinos found the back of the net first and hung on to it to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. Then in the second half, It was the Templars turn as they were able to break through the Dino defense and score a goal of their own to tie it up by the final whistle in regulation.
Moving into another overtime game was nothing new for Carbon as they fell to Richfield in double overtime their last time out. The first overtime was just the same as the first 90 minutes of the contest, no one was able to break the tie.
In the second overtime period, the Templars could find the back of the net to break the tie and take the 2-1 win.
Malia Smith was the lone scorer for the Lady Dinos bringing her season total to 29 leading the state, Blythe Bradford collected the assist.
In the final contest of the regular season, the Lady Dinos welcome in the Lady Spartans of Emery (0-16, 0-13, No. 18 in the RPI). Back on September 10, Carbon traveled to Castle Dale and took the 9-1 win.
