Susan Lavon Mortensen Bonacci, age 88, passed away October 28, 2024 at her home in Helper.

She was born July 15, 1936 in Emery, Utah to Lavon C. and Lanelda Johnson Mortensen. Married Dominic Ross Bonacci on June 9, 1956 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Helper. Dominic preceded her in death on July 13, 1991.

Sue was a devout Catholic and proud parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. In her younger years, she loved working on the family farm; and in 1954, Sue was named the Emery County Rodeo Queen. Throughout her life, she enjoyed many pastimes including fishing, hunting, hiking, and bicycling with her neighbors. Above all, Sue loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. She adored her polka music and dancing with Dominic and her grandkids.

Sue is survived by her sister, Marjore Jones, Taylorsville, UT; sister-in-law, Mary Bonacci, Helper; daughter, Kathy (Clay) Cloward, Rock Springs, WY; son, James Bonacci, Helper; grandchildren, Tiffany (Matt) England, Rock Springs, WY; Chelsey (Jason) Lypka, Green River, WY; Dominic Bonacci (Kelsie Pierce), Clearfield, UT; great-grandchildren, Kabrin England, Ryker England, Rock Springs, WY; Izabella Bonacci, Clearfield, UT; Vivian Lypka, Evelyn Lypka, Green River, WY; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, Lavon C. and Lanelda Johnson Mortensen; husband, Dominic R. Bonacci; brothers and sisters, Rex Mortensen, Jimmy Mortensen, Keith Mortensen, Pauline Nikas, Madge Poulos, and Myrtle Bjork; brother-in-law, Joe Bonacci; and in-laws, Filomena and Vito Bonacci.

Funeral Mass, Monday, November 4, 2024, 10:00 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church. Vigil service, Sunday, November 3, 2024, 7:00 p.m., at St. Anthony Catholic Church where the family will receive friends Sunday evening and Monday morning one hour prior to the services. Committal Service, Mt.
