Roger Kenneth Sparks, 82, was born on March 1, 1942 to Kenneth and Verleen Sparks.

He passed away on February 1, 2025 with his spouse and family by his side.

Roger was raised in Dingle, Idaho, and graduated from Montpelier High School, class of 1960.

On October 6, 1978 he married Carol Atwood, making a future of love and family his priority. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 24,1983. Together they raised their four children with love and respect not just for each other, but to appreciate nature as they hunted, fished, camped and hiked Huntington Canyon, Ferron Mountain, Goblin Valley, San Rafael Swell and made their special trips to Yellowstone.

Roger retired from the State of Utah, Dept. of Workforce Services on February 28, 2004 after 36 years of service. Roger served in many capacities for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including serving a mission in Australia, counselor to three bishops, but the calling he enjoyed most was serving as Young Men’s President after his retirement.

Roger is survived by his soulmate and eternal companion of 46 years, Carol; his children, Cory Sparks, Amber Sparks (Brandon Blood), Amanda Sparks, Cody (Jackie) Sparks; his greatest blessings; grandchildren, Chandler Adair, EmJae Adair, Kinley Harrington and Zayden Harrington. He is also survived by sisters, Kay LeGarza and Leann (Tony) Watkins, several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Luann Sparks; sister, Glenna Hirschi; brother in law’s, Gordon Hirschi and Mike LeGarza; nephews, Lynn Hemmert, Brett Turner, Larry Larsen, Jeric Hirschi, and niece, Jamie Milburn.

A special thanks to Intermountain Home and Hospice for their assistance which allowed Roger to remain at home with his family, especially, Ruth, Carson & Traci.

Celebration of life Saturday, February 8, 2025, 11:00 am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of  Latter-day Saint Fourth Ward building (47 North 100 East Wellington, Utah).  Where the family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 am. Burial will be at the Wellington City Cemetery.

In remembrance of Roger please make a donation to a charity of your choice, or take your family for ice cream.
