On the morning of Feb. 20, an Emery County Sheriff’s Office Deputy attempted to serve a civil process paper in Ferron. During this service, a scent of marijuana raised the Deputy’s suspicions, resulting in a search warrant that uncovered controlled substances, drug paraphernalia and illegal firearms.
“Upon making contact with one of the residents of the home, the Deputy smelled the distinct odor of burnt marijuana coming from the home,” reads a release from the ECSO. “The Deputy noted the demeanor and appearance of the resident to be consistent with usage of a controlled substance. “
Using this information, the Deputy applied for and was granted a search warrant for the home. Returning with backup and K-9 Deputy Dak, the Deputies executed the warrant where, according to the Sheriff’s Office,” The search produced controlled substances and their paraphernalia as well as the seizure of three illegal firearms.”
Also inside the house, the Deputies found two small children, who were released to family members.
The release concludes,” Deputies arrested three male subjects in connection with the seized drugs, paraphernalia and firearms.”
This is only the latest development in the fight against illegal substances in Emery County, where Sheriff Tyson Huntington previously stated,” Our deputies do not do this job because they hate crime and illegal things. They do it because they love the people and our way of life in Emery County.”
