Both the Carbon and Emery soccer squads found out where they sit in the rankings compiled by MaxPreps and the Utah High School Activities Association on Saturday. The Dinos captured the No. 3 spot, and the Spartans sit at No. 13.
Now that the rankings have been released, they will be updated throughout the remainder of the season and then used for seeding when State Championship time comes around.
Sitting in the number three spot, the Carbon Dinos hold a 6-4 overall record and are 4-0 in Region 13 play. The last outing was a 4-1 loss to Maeser Prep on Tuesday, March 31st. They will get back to work on Wednesday when they welcome North Sanpete to Price. Gametime is set for 4:00 p.m.
Emery lands at No. 13 in the initial rankings with a 3-7 overall record and a 1-3 mark in region 13 play. On March 27th, under the lights in Castle Dale, they took a 3-2 victory over the Union Cougars. Having played a majority of the first half of the season on the road, Emery will take some time at home now on Tuesday when they get back to work on the pitch when they welcome the Manti Templars to town.
The rankings will now be updated daily until the season ends on April 21st. The bracket reveal will occur with the final rankings on April 22nd. Opening round play will begin at home sites on April 28th, with quarterfinals beginning May 1st at home sites as well. On May 4th, the semifinals will begin at Zion’s Bank Stadium in Herriman, with the finals coming a week later, on May 11th, at Zions Bank Stadium once again.
