Saturday, the Emiery track and field team traveled to Orem for the annual Tiger Trials track meet. With over 1,200 athletes from 30 schools across the state, this is one of the bigger track meets of the season so far. The Lady Spartans finished fourth with 51 points, just 15 points off first place.

American Fork claimed the top prize with 66 points, and Uintah came in second with 56. Wasatch (55), Emery (51), and Lone Peak (50) rounded out a very tight top five.

Skylee Guymon continued her chase for a state title with a pair of first-place finishes. In the 100 m, she turned in a time of 14.94, ahead of Kambri Muir of Salem Hills, and her time of 15.29. Guymon was even more dominant in the 300 m, turning in a first-place time of 41.74, well ahead of Muir’s second-place time of 44.98.

Addy Guymon earned first and second-place finishes in distances. In the 1600, her time of 4:53.16 was more than three seconds ahead of Maya Bybee of Lone Peak’s 4:56.49. In the 800, she would turn in a time of 2:13.29 to earn second. Gentry Christiansen claimed second in the 3200.

Emery will get ready to host the Gardner Invitational on Tuesday, then they will have a busy weekend when they head to Brigham Young for the BYU Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
