
On Saturday, the Carbon Dino track and field squad traveled to Delta for the Delta Signature Real Estate Invitational. With just a handful of meets left in the season, the Carbon boys team is coming into its own as it finished second behind Juab. The Lady Dinos landed in third.
Juab led the way in the boys’ division, scoring 145 points; Carbon claimed second with 126. Delta (99), Manti (42 ), and North Sanpete (42) rounded out the top five.
Dexter Packard continued his run of great performances this season, taking first place in the long jump with a distance of 21-2.0. Benjamin Simms was dominant in the 200 with his first-place finish of 22.43, and Matthew Stromness took first place in the 3200 with his time of 10:35.67 seconds. Bracken Hanson finished second in the 3200.
In the 4×100 relay, the Carbon team of Carter Branch, Dawson Johnson, Packard, and Simms finished in second place.
In the girls’ division, it was Millard that took first place with 126 points, and host Delta finished second with 123. Carbon (99), North Sanpete (74), and Manti (61) made up the top five.
Rozlyn Stowe once again had a dominant performance. In the 800, she turned in a time of 2:16.05, and in the 1600, her time of 5:02.62 led her to first place. She capped off the day with a first-place finish in the 3200 at 10:49.35 seconds.
Brettlee Kennedy claimed two second-place finishes in both the 800 and the 1600, and Josie Jasperson finished second in the 100 m hurdles and the 300 m hurdles.
Carbon has a pair of meets on the schedule this week, starting on Tuesday when they travel to Emery for the Gardner invitational.
Then, on Friday, they will head to Brigham Young University for the two-day BYU Invitational.
