The Lady Spartans started their championship run on Tuesday in Spanish Fork, knowing they would face the No. 1 team in 3A, the Grantsville Cowboys, in their opening game. After a disappointing loss in that one, they would take on their cross-county rival, the Lady Dinos, and come away with a victory, then close out the day facing a former regional opponent, Canyon View, taking the win in that to end day one at 2-3. The Lady Spartans would get started early Wednesday against the North Sanpete Hawks, and unfortunately, their run would end with a loss.

In the contest with Grantsville, the Lady Spartans were held scoreless in the first five Innings and came up to the plate in the sixth, staring at a 7-0 deficit. Brielle Tuttle would come to the plate with two on and sent a grounder to left field, bringing in Kembree Miller to score to get Emery on the board.  After holding the Cowboys scoreless in the sixth inning, the Spartans came up again in the seventh, and with one out, Bailey Luke would send a double to center field, bringing Elly Stilson and Aleeyah Cowley into score. Tuttle came to the plate again and sent a single to right, bringing Luke home, bringing the score to 7-4. The inning and the game would end with the next batter, as the Spartans would fall into the consolation bracket with the loss.

Tuttle was 2-3 with three RBIs in the contest for Emery. Luke went 1-2 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored, and Elli Stoker was 2-2 in the loss.

Allison Jeffs got the start on the mound, going two innings, surrendering three runs, one earned, on three hits with a strikeout. Stoker entered the game with one inning of work, with four earned runs on four hits, and struck out two. Aliee Wilde came into the game, putting in three innings’ worth of work, taking the loss, and giving up two hits.

Up next for the Lady Spartans was a familiar foe, the Lady Dinos of Carbon. Having squared off with Carbon already twice in the regular season and coming away with two wins, Emery’s spirits were high, but they knew they were in for a battle, and it turned out to be just that.

The Lady Spartans came up in the bottom of the first, staring at a 3-0 deficit as Stoker sent a single to center, bringing in Hadley Larsen to get Emery on the board. A Luke single to center brought Miller in, putting the Spartans within one at 3-2.

The Spartans held the Dinos scoreless in the second and then came up in the bottom half of the inning with one out, and Kaybree Jensen would score on a Stilson single to right field. Stilson would then advance to second on an error by the Carbon first baseman, and Hadley Grimm came into score to give the Spartans a 4-3 lead.  But the Lady Spartans were not finished. Later in the inning, Cowley would send a single to center, bringing in Stilson to score. Then, in the next at-bat, Stoker singled to left, bringing in Larsen and Cowley to put the Spartans up 6-3. Miller would re-enter the game as a courtesy runner for Stoker and would steal second and then reach third on an error by the catcher during Luke’s at bat, who would then hit a single, reaching on an error by the second baseman, and Miller would score, putting the Spartans up 8-3, as the two teams headed to the third.

Carbon would hold Emery scoreless in the bottom of the third and then added a pair of runs of their own as the Lady Spartans would start the fourth inning down 9-8. Emery would tie the game up during a Luke at bat; she would reach on a dropped third strike, bringing Cowley in. The next batter up, Tuttle, singled to center field, allowing Luke and Miller to score to put the Spartans back up on top 11-9. Grimm would come up next and send one over the center field wall for a home run, bringing Tuttle into score, and the Spartans would end the inning on top 13-9. The Spartans would hold Carbon off the board at the top of the fifth and came up in the bottom half of the inning looking to get back to work.

Stoker came up to the plate and sent a single with the bases loaded to right field, bringing in Larsen and Stilson to score, and after a walk, Tuttle would hit a double to left field, allowing Cowley and Miller to score. The scoring would end for the Spartans as Grimm would ground out to the second baseman, bringing Luke into score, but putting Emery on top 18-9. The Lady Spartans would surrender a pair of runs in the top of the 7th, but then held on to close out the Dinos to take the win and advance.

Luke was 3-4 with a pair of runs and an RBI in the contest for Emery. Tuttle and Stoker were 2-5 with four RBIs and a run scored. Grim went 1-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored in the win.

Jeffs got to start on the mound, going 3 1/3 innings, giving up seven runs, four earned on four hits, striking out two, and Wilde closed out the contest, going 3 2/3 with four runs, three earned on six hits, striking out three.

The win over Carbon meant that the Spartans would now play their third game of the day against a familiar foe, former Region 13 member Canyon View.

Emery was still fired up from the game with Carbon coming out in the first with two on, and Cowley would send a double to right, bringing Stilson into score. Stoker stepped into the batter’s box next and smacked a ground ball, reaching on an error by the shortstop, bringing Cowley and Larsen into score and putting the Spartans up 3-0. The scoring for Emery would end during a Luke at bat, where Miller, who had entered the game as a courtesy runner for Stoker, was able to score on an error by the third baseman, putting the Spartans up 4-0 going into the second.

The Lady Spartans bats would go quiet for two innings, and then, coming up in the 4th, they woke up and big time. Luke would come up with no outs and the bases loaded, sending a single to center, bringing Cowley and Larsen into score. Tuttle was the next batter up, sending a line drive to right that allowed Luke and Miller to cross home plate. A Jensen single on a bunt brought KashLynn Marshall into score, and then in the next at-bat, Stilson would ground out to second, allowing Zadriee Norton to come home to put the Spartans on top 10-2.

Emery added another run at the top of the fifth, as Norton singled to left, bringing Miller into score, and then in the top of the sixth, they came up with the score 11-3, and Stoker would step into the batter’s box, sending a line drive to center as Stilson and Cowley would score to put Emery up 13-3. Luke stepped up to the plate and sent a double to center, bringing Miller into score, and then, with two outs during a Norton at bat, Grimm would steal second, allowing Luke to score on a steal of home to put the Lady Spartans up 15-3. Emery surrendered three runs in the bottom of the sixth but held on the rest of the way to take a 15-6 victory and advance on Wednesday.

Tuttle went 3-5 with two RBIs for the Spartans. Cowley went 3-6 with three runs and an RBI, Stoker was 2-4 with four RBIs, and Luke was 2-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored in the win.

Stoker got the start on the mound, putting in two innings worth of work, giving up one run on one hit and striking out three. Jeffs went the rest of the way. With five runs, two earned on eight hits, and struck out five.

The Spartans would start Wednesday morning, facing a team they knew very well, the North Sanpete Hawks.  Squaring off against the Hawks twice in the regular season, the Lady Spartans were unable to collect a win, and in this one, they fell as well, 16-1 in four innings.

The only run for the Lady Spartans would come in the second inning as Grimm sent a grounder, reaching on an error by the shortstop, bringing Miller in to score. The Hawks would add seven runs in the second, four in the third, and five in the fourth, ending the game 16-1.

Stoker had the only hit for Emery, going 1-2 in the loss.

The Spartans would put three on the mound with Wilde getting the start, going 1 2/3 with seven runs, one earned, on two hits. Stoker came in to go 1/3 of an inning, and  Jeffs closed out the game, going 1 2/3 with nine runs, two earned on five hits.

The Lady Spartans ended the season 7-20 overall.  Check back with Castle Country radio in the coming weeks for a complete recap of the 2026 campaign.
