USU Eastern softball opened up Scenic West play over the weekend as they traveled to Ephraim, Utah, to face Snow College in a four-game series. The Lady Eagles battled throughout but finished the weekend with a 1-3 record.

In the first game of the series, the Lady Eagles started strong with three early runs, highlighted by a three-run home run from Maddy Jennings in the first inning. Brooklyn Zajac went 2-for-2, and Ainzleigh Quinn added an RBI single. Despite the fast start, Snow College responded with a six-run third inning and an eight-run fifth to secure the win. Addy Hess (1-2) took the loss, allowing six runs in 2.1 innings, while Allie Fowler gave up eight runs in relief.

Eastern bounced back in the second game with a strong offensive performance, tallying 14 hits. Madi Shama led the way, going 3-for-4 with two RBI’s, while Brielle Sandavol also drove in two runs. Ainzleigh Quinn and Lauryn Hall contributed RBI’s, and Allie Fowler added a key pinch-hit RBI double. On the mound, Emma Walker (1-1) pitched 6.1 innings, striking out two while allowing seven earned runs. Katelyn Johnson came in for the save, recording the final two outs.

The following day, USU Eastern struggled offensively, managing just five hits. Lauryn Hall provided a spark, scoring the team’s only run after reaching base on a single. Ainzleigh Quinn drove in the lone RBI. Katelyn Johnson (1-1) started but lasted just 1.2 innings, giving up seven runs (three earned) before Sydney Morris took over in relief. Snow College’s six-run second inning proved too much for the Eagles to overcome.

The series finale was a back-and-forth contest, with the Lady Eagles battling until the final out. Madi Shama stayed hot at the plate, hitting a two-run double as part of a three-hit game. Brielle Sandavol and Ellie Nielsen each had two hits, while Jayda Spight added an RBI. Sydney Morris pitched 4.2 innings in relief, allowing just two runs, but Snow College’s offense managed to hold on for the win.
