The giving spirit is ever-present in the Castle Country.
Working with Utah Foster Care, Haylee Marshall has organized a snack drive to help benefit an upcoming event for the charity. Marshall joined the KOAL newsroom to explain why she got involved in this cause and what the drive aims to accomplish.
“I am currently going to school for social work. And as part of that, they want you to do volunteer hours. And Utah Foster Care can always use the help. And they are always a good cause to contribute to,” explained Marshall.
For this drive, Marshall is looking to collect at least 50 of the following items:
- Pouch applesauce
- String cheese
- Small oranges
- Individual trail mix packages
- Granola bars
- Yogurt packets
“We need 50 of each of the items that are listed on our flyer,” said Marshall. “And then we also have a Venmo set up so that anybody can donate cash if they can’t bring snacks in.” All monetary donations will go toward purchasing additional snacks.
Current donation drop-off locations across the county include Friar Tuck’s Barber Shop in Helper, the USU Extension offices in Price and Sutherlands in Price.
The drive is still looking for additional locations for collection boxes. Those interested can contact Marshall on Facebook.
The Utah Foster Care benefit snack drive will run until Monday, June 16.
