The Annual Castleview Hospital Weight Loss Center 5K Benefit Walk/Run will be held on Saturday, May 13 beginning with registration at 8:30 am and the race scheduled to start at 9:00 am.

Right by the south entrance of the hospital there is a grassy patch there, so we will have everything set up for registration and the start and finish line will be right in the back of our clinic. We will have a booth there so that if you want to come out and just donate to Carbon Caring for Kids that will be available to you,” said Jessica Martin, Office Coordinator. The cost to participate in the 5K Benefit Walk/Run is $15.00 per person, which includes a event t-shirt and $25.00 per family, this will not include t-shirts but they will be available to purchase for $8.00.

We usually have the 5K at the end of our weight loss challenge, so one of the big pushes is to come so that we do our weight loss challenge prizes at the 5K, after the race,” said Martin. The 90-day weight loss challenge started in February and the awards will be presented to the winners at 10:30 am. Prizes include a treadmill for first-place, Ninja blender with attachments for second-place and third-place will receive a massage at the Jeff Manley Wellness Center.

Proceeds earned from the race are always donated to a local charity. “When I asked Dr. Presett what we wanted to donate the 5K to first thing he said was Carbon Caring for Kids, so it’s really important to him too,” stated Martin. Carbon Caring for Kids is a non-profit organization that supports local elementary students who suffer from hunger on the weekends and over long holiday breaks.

Early registration is available at Castleview Weight Loss Center or Carbon County Recreation.
