It’s that time of year for families to start preparing to go back to school and with the expense of purchasing clothing and school supplies it can take its toll on a family’s budget. That is why the Carbon County Family Support and Children’s Justice Center are lending a helping hand to those in need by hosting their Annual Back to School Giveaway on Thursday, August 3 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at their location of 80 South Fairgrounds Road in Price.

“Our goal is to help kiddos who are less fortunate to start school with new school supplies, new backpacks, and new clothes,” said Director Shelley Wright. This event is held annually and fills a need that is vital in our area.

The Carbon County Family Support and Children’s Justice Center are still accepting donations towards the cause. “We are taking new and gently used clothes and new and gently used shoes. So, if those of you that have children who have grown out of items or items that still have the tags on them in the closet please bring them by the center, we will take them and be able to give them to the children,” explained Wright. Other items that can be donated are school supplies like pens, pencils, crayons, highlighters, notebooks, backpacks, Kleenex, hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes. All donated items will help children in the local area.

Since 1996 the Carbon County Family Support and Children’s Justice Center serves the community by helping children and their families build stronger and healthier relationships. “Our goal and our focus is to help families in need, reduce stress, reduce the incidents of child abuse, prevent child abuse from occurring, and getting involved in our community by helping our families, relieving the stress in their home and if at all possible strengthen those families,” stated Wright. The organization is designed to be a resource for parents and with their safe homelike environment it is a place to find help during time of crisis.
