The United Way of Eastern Utah would have been gearing up for their annual Day of Caring event this weekend but due to the pandemic, it was canceled this year. However, Director, Kaylee Iman says you can still make a difference by doing service projects as a family or by yourself.
“Just individuals going out there, even if it’s just helping your neighbor with their lawn if they haven’t been able to get out there. If there is an elderly person, or disabled or even a compromised person that can’t get to the store you can even offer to help them, just simple things like that work,” said Iman. The Day of Caring event is the largest, single-day volunteer effort in the community. Officials hope that next year’s Day of Caring event will be able to take place.
Although school just started it’s that time for the United Way to prepare for the annual Angel Tree program and things will be done a bit differently this year due to the pandemic. “This year we are doing it a little bit different because of COVID and still trying to keep me safe, and the community safe. So its on our website this year that application, you go to our website https://www.uweu.org/ and you go to resource tab and under the resource tab is the Angel Tree tab, click on that and it has the information right there. Just fill out the application and if you can mail it to us or even job it by the office in an envelope that would work too,” said Iman. Angel Tree 2020 application will open on October 1 and close on November 19 at 4:00 pm.
