Trevin Wakefield continued to play solid golf as he led the Emery Spartans in a fifth place finish Tuesday afternoon at the Moab Golf Club.

As a team the Spartans accumulated a score of 378, finishing two strokes back of South Sevier for fourth place. Richfield claimed the meet win with a final total of 246, topping second place Grand by three and third place Carbon by 11.

Fresh off a third-place performance with an 82 last week, Wakefield delivered an 84 Tuesday, which placed him in a fourth place tie individually. Carbon’s Bode Salas and Grand’s Wyatt Toney tied for the low score as both shot a 79.

Tayven Guymon helped provide a boost to the Spartans as he shot an 88 in his return to the course. Carter Huntington ended with a 102 and Devan Guymon shot a 104.

Tuesday’s performance keeps Emery fifth overall in the Region 12 standings. Currently the Spartans trail South Sevier by 28 strokes for fourth place.

Only two meets remain on the season before the State Championship Tournament in October. Next the Spartans will play host to their lone home meet at the Millsite Golf Course on Thursday, Sept. 24.
