
The Carbon Dinos shot 56-percent from the field as a team to remain unbeaten in Region 12 play with a 78-71 victory over the San Juan Broncos in Price Wednesday night.
Holding just a one-point lead at the end of the opening quarter, Carbon outscored the Broncos 22-13 in the second period to take a 35-25 lead into the break. While the Broncos battled backed in the second half, the Dinos did just enough to hold on and move to 3-0 in league play.
Senior Preston Condie scored a game-high 23 points to help lift the Dinos in the win. Condie stuffed the stat sheet with four rebounds and three assists, doing work on both sides of the floor for Carbon.
Merrick Morgan connected on 7-of-12 attempts to chip in with 16 points for the Dinos. Keenan Hatch recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Noah Bradford scored 10.
Thursday’s win marks the fifth consecutive for the Dinos, who are now 10-3 overall on the season. The victory also pushed the Dinos in the UHSAA RPI, moving them to No. 5 overall.
Carbon will have another opportunity to climb higher in the RPI and set up a chance to take control of Region 12 when they travel on the road Friday to meet the Grand Red Devils. Sitting at 13-1 overall on the season, Grand is currently No. 3 after defeating the Emery Spartans by eight on Wednesday night.
