The Pinnacle Panther boys basketball team was on the road for their opening round match-up against the Piute Thunderbirds. Piute  the No. 5 team in 1A was too much for the Panthers and they would claim the 88-46 win, ending the Panthers season.

The Panthers were outmanned in the contest from the start and finished the first half down by 26 points 38-16. In the second half the Thunderbirds pushed their lead to 32 by the end of the third quarter and though the Panthers would continue fighting in to the final minutes their season would come to an end.

The game against the Thunderbirds was the first time the Panthers had taken to the floor since February 15 when they took on the Wendover Wildcats. A COVID quarantine would wipe out the final games of the season including their rivalry match with Green River.

The Thunderbird’s Kyle Morgan and Kelby Jensen  would lead all scorers with 16 points each. Gavin Morgan would add 13 in the win.

Junior Anthony Shumway would score 12 points for the Panthers while seniors Landen Hardy and Mikey Vigil had nine and eight points respectively in their final game for Pinnacle.

Pinnacle will move forward now to next season. They will lose seven seniors to graduation. Coach Ray Jones Jr. will be looking for the underclassmen to step up and be ready when next season rolls around.
