The Emery Lady Spartans opened the 2021 golf season with a second place finish Monday afternoon at the Moab Golf Club.

Competing against Richfield and Grand in the team scoring, Emery finished with a 461, well behind Richfield who fired a 363. Grand ended in third at 474. Carbon had just one golfer compete, while San Juan and South Sevier did not participate.

Angie Nielsen led the way for the Lady Spartans as she finished with a 104. Maci Nielsen was second on the team with a 111, followed by Janika Beagley’s 119. Both Trinity Nielsen and Maggie Lindsay finished with a 127 to round out the top four scores for the team.

Richfield’s Piper Harris recorded the low round for the day as she shot a 78. The second low round also came from Richfield as Becca Poulsen ended with a 90.

Carbon’s Savanna Rassmussen was the only Dino to participate in the meet as she shot a 102, placing her seventh individually. Last week Rassmussen shot a 111 in a practice round at Cove View.

The next Region 12 meet will take place on Thursday, March 25 as the teams will to Mountain View. Four days later the season will continue in Richfield at Cove View.
