There’s a large harmful algal bloom in the reservoir. Please avoid it — people and pets should not go swimming near it. Scofield is a great spot to fish for cutthroat, rainbow and tiger trout. Try using lures such as Berkley swim shads. The water temperature is 59 to 71 degrees and the visibility in the water is only about 3 feet because of algae already showing up. The reservoir level is 47% full and dropping. Most of the fish are hooked in shallow (10 inches to four feet) water. The water is lower and conditions are hot. The fishing is really picking up around the state parks and on the west shore. Trolling with green PowerBait and nightcrawlers seems to be working well.
