The United Way of Eastern recently said good-bye to Executive Director, Megan Cummins who is moving out of the area. The organization is now opening up the application process to find a suitable individual to fill the shoes as Executive Director. Chairman of the Board, Nick Tatton took time to speak over the telephone with Castle Country Radio to discuss all the details.

“Well, we do ask that folks fill out an application, we just use the generic application from Workforce Services or in a pinch we at least ask for a resume as well. Folks that are interested, it’s a part-time position right now to be the Director of United Way. We’re hoping to grow just a little bit more and it could turn into a full-time position,” said Tatton. The organization was on its way to making the position full-time but need a little bit more time to work out the kinks. Although this is a part-time position there may be from time to time some evening and weekend commitments to fulfill.

“We need someone that’s really self-motivated and works well without a lot of direct supervision. Someone that might have some understanding or past experience working for a board. You know the board are volunteers from the community and hit and miss but it is important that they conduct the business and there are agendas to make, and notices to be sent out, budgets to review and things like that,” stated Tatton. Other skills that will be helpful in the position is computer knowledge, grant writing skills, familiarity with Eastern Utah, and ability to advocate for United Way of Eastern Utah in public and groups settings.

Interested applications must submit applications/resumes by March 9 by noon. “Folks that are interested that think that this might be a good fit for them, I would say please get your application/resume to me. As long as I get it by the 9th by March 9th at noon is the deadline, applications will close and then there will be a process with some of the board members that will be a hiring committee,” said Tatton.
