The game started scoreless until the Wildcats forced a Carbon safety to take a 2-0 lead at the 6:53 minute mark of the first quarter. The safety started what would be a 16-0 run for Richfield.
Two minutes after the safety, Richfield scored a touchdown on a 11-yard touchdown run with 4:58 left in the first quarter. Two plays later, Wyatt Falk threw a pass to freshman wide receiver Maddux Willson that was caught then fumbled. The Richfield defenders scooped up the fumble and returned it 15 yards for another touchdown to make the score 16-0 before the end of the first quarter.
Scoring sputtered in the end of the first quarter and continued in the beginning of the second. Carbon’s defense did their best to keep themselves a chance in the game as Dmitri Bordea stripped the Wildcat quarterback in the back of the endzone to put Carbon on the board with a safety of their own.
Carbon looked good defensively towards the end of the first half with a forced Richfield field goal with 0:31 left in the second quarter. Unfortunately, the Dinos offense allowed another defensive touchdown to the Wildcats defense as Wyatt Falk threw an interception that was returned 65 yards for a touchdown. Carbon trailed Richfield 26-2 at the half.
The Carbon offense continued to struggle in the second half as the defense did all they could to keep the game as close as possible. Richfield scored 21 points in the second half to ruin the Dino homecoming night.
Wyatt Falk finished the game 11-26 with 23 yards and an interception. Trevor Worley finished the game as the leading rusher for the Dinos. Worley finished with 45 yards on five carries. Ashton Ferguson finished the game with 30 yards on four receptions.
