The Lady Dino volleyball squad made their way to Moab on Tuesday for the last time this season and possibly using it as a tune-up for the Sevier Valley Tournament this weekend. Carbon finished off the Red Devils in straight sets, and earned their twelfth win of the season.

Carbon has now earned two wins in a row, hopefully shaking the two game losing streak they had with back-to-back losses against Emery and Richfield. The Dinos are 12-4 overall and 4-2 in Region 12 play. They also hold the No.5 spot in the current RPI.

On Tuesday night, the Lady Dinos outgunned the Red Devils taking the first set by a score of 25-11. The second set belonged to the ladies in blue as well handling Grand 25-16, then Carbon finished the clean sweep with a 25-15 final in the third set.

The Dinos were lead by Taylor Secor with 13 kills. Dani Jensen chimed in with eight digs and Sav Hurst filled her stat line with 20 assists, 12 digs and six service aces.

Carbon took this as an opportunity to prepare themselves for the weekend when they will travel to Richfield for the Sevier Valley Tournament.

In their first match on Friday they will take on the No.12 South Summit Wildcats.  Last year in the same tournament these two faced each other and Carbon took the 2-0 victory.

After the match with South Summit, they will take on the No. 4 Grantsville Cowboys. Carbon has not faced the Cowboys since 2020, when they met up twice, both times as part of tournament play and both times were a Dino victory, 3-2 and 3-1.

Starting next week on October 12, the Dinos will play the first of it’s final two regular season games, both at home, and both will give them a chance to avenge their only two losses in region play.

First up, is a date with Emery. Just over two weeks ago the Lady Spartans welcomed Carbon to Castle Dale and earned the 3-1 win.

The season will wrap up on October 18 when the Richfield Wildcats come to town. On Sept.27, the Lady Dinos were on the road and even though the match went to five sets, the Wildcats pulled off the 3-2 win.
