
Mary Jo Oresta Gravley, age 92, passed away October 5, 2022 at Sagewood at Daybreak Senior Living in South Jordan, Utah.
Mary Jo was born in Matoaka, West Virginia to Joseph Orella Oresta and Mary Elizabeth Anderson on January 12, 1930. She attended school in Matoaka. Mary Jo married James Noah Gravley on September 7, 1948 in Sparta, North Carolina. After her children were in school, she worked as the supervisor of the San Rafael Junior High School Cafeteria. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in various organizations of the Church. Her favorite assignment was visiting the ladies at the local nursing home. Mary Jo was an avid quilter and genealogy researcher as well as an amazing cook. She won numerous ribbons at the County and State Fairs for canning and baked goods. Of course, she shared her baking with friends and neighbors. Family and friends were her main priorities during her life.
Mary Jo is survived by her daughter, Linda Bell (Robert Bell) of South Jordan, Utah; son, James Michael Gravley (Renee Skinner) of Long Beach, California; son, Steven Paul Gravley Sr. (Deanna Grey) of Green River, Wyoming; daughter, Mary Beth Rodriguez (Daniel Rodriguez) of Whitter, California; son, Nathan Scott Gravley of Rigby, Idaho; daughter, Jennifer Stubbs (Ronnie Stubbs) of Murray, Utah; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mary Jo is preceded in death by her husband, James Noah Gravley; parents, Joseph Orella Oresta and Mary Elizabeth Anderson; two sisters; and three brothers.
The family of Mary Jo wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the many friends, Sagewood at Daybreak Senior Living’s amazing staff, and Enhabit Hospice, especially the two angel hospice nurses, Brianna Hales and Valeria Bleazard who brightened Mary Jo’s life.
FUNERAL SERVICES are scheduled for SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2022, 11:00 a.m., Dutch Flat Ward Chapel (Ferron Stake Center). The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in the Ferron City Cemetery, Ferron, Utah.
