Josiah “Cy” Kyle Eardley, age 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home in Emery, Utah on May 25, 2023.

Cy was born on August 27, 1933 in Ogden, Utah to Alexander Robison and Mary Kyle Eardley. He moved to Hiawatha, Utah as a small child where his horses were his playmates and the mountains were his playground.

Cy married Etta Marie Hansen on November 4, 1956 in Kingman, Arizona. Their first child which was a daughter, Joetta, was born in 1962, then a son, Jim Bob in 1964, and then a daughter, Markette in 1971.

Cy always made sure his family was taken care of and his horses were fed. He retired in 1989, to follow his dream of owning a small farm-ranch operation starting with a small herd of Corrientes’s to supply the family with roping stock and then onto a beef herd. Hard work was his teacher and his thoughts and his feelings created his life.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; daughter, Joetta (Lex Hadley); sister, Mary Ellen (Perry Howell); sisters-in-law, Phyllis Eardley and Claudia (Buck Moynier); nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alexander Robison and Mary Kyle Eardley; son, Jim Bob; daughter, Markette; grandson, Jayke Kyle; sister, Carrie; two brothers, Sandy and Jim; and brother-in-law, Terry Hansen.

The family would like to thank Sandi Jensen and Symbii Home Health and Hospice for their care and compassion that was shown to our family at this time.

Graveside services for Cy are scheduled for Friday, June 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Emery Town Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Cy online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
