The Carbon County Food Bank is a wonderful organization within Southeastern Utah Association of Local Governments that offers help to individuals/families that are in need of food. Community Services Program Manager, Julie Rosier took time to talk with Castle Country Radio about their new location and services.

The Southeastern Utah Association of Local Governments recently finished construction on their new office building located on Fairgrounds Road. “So our main offices and food bank will be will be moving from our Carbon Avenue location up to Fairgrounds Road, right by the Carbon Senior Center. One of the things we’re really excited about for our food bank is that we will be a choice pantry. So customers can come in and get a cart and go through it, and select the items that they use or prefer. I think that’s very exciting for them, it gives them more of a shopping experience,” said Rosier. The new location will be able to provide more room for the Food Bank and help to better serve members of the community. Officials hope to be moved in to the new facility by the beginning of the new year.

As we approach the holidays the food bank is seeking donations to help get them through the holidays.  “So right now, we’re really low on some protein items like tuna fish, peanut butter, and then like moving in to spaghetti sauces, mac and cheese, ramen noodles, things like that are really needed and they’re requested. Then with the holidays coming up, we really want to make sure that we’re able to serve all of our families and provide some part of a holiday meal at least. Currently, we don’t have turkeys, we need like instant mashed potatoes, stuffing, things like that to kind of help,” stated Rosier. The food bank is still working out of the Carbon Avenue location so any donations will need to be taken to that food bank building.  That address is 75 East 400 South in Price, just east of the Southeastern Utah Association of Local Governments building on Carbon Avenue.

The food bank is open to anyone/families that are in need of emergency assistance with food insecurity.  There is never a time that anyone/families will be turned away as Rosier explains, “We receive some federal funding and state funding that says here’s the income guidelines, and they’re actually set pretty high, but with our donations and other things we aren’t going to turn families away.” If you would like to learn more about the Carbon County Food Bank just visit their website at https://seualg.utah.gov/ or give them a call at (435) 637-9232.
